Russia’s Atom Electric Car to Begin Sales in April, Priced Below Chinese Models
Russia's domestically developed electric vehicle, the Atom, is set to commence official sales in April, according to Kama, the manufacturer behind the project. Commercial Director Alexander Kostylev confirmed the timeline, noting that purchases will be conducted exclusively online with home deliveries. Preorder customers from 2023 will receive the first units, while car-sharing platforms and taxi firms will participate in pilot tests.
The Atom is positioned as a budget-friendly alternative to Chinese EVs in the Russian market. Anatoly Kiyashko, Director of Government Relations, hinted at competitive pricing—details to be revealed in February. "Our car is cheaper than Chinese offerings," he stated, framing the Atom as Russia's answer to Tesla with localized production.
